The one with some Props...

Just wanted to thank Sue and Mary for BOTH sending me some props! Got this blog award (my first ever!) from them this weekend.

This award has a few rules.....
1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this
2. Share 8 things about yourself
3. Pay it forward to 8 bloggers that you have recently discovered
4. Contact those bloggers and tell them about their awards

So here are my 8 things.....
1. I love chocolate... anything chocolate! I could live on just chocolate :)

4. Golf is my favorite sport and the only one I am good at. I am a 5 handicap now :)

6. I love to travel and see new cities.
7. I cannot stand to sit on a beach and read all day. What a waste of time ;)
8. My favorite shows at the moment are Parenthood, Modern Family, Cougar Town and Grey's Anatomy.

Phew... that was harder than I thought it would be! lol :)

Now on to 8 blogs that I think deserve this award... (lots of ladies I would love to send this to just got it this week so I will try not to duplicate!)

The one with some tea!

I am definitely a tea person! I can't even stand the smell of coffee, or anything with coffee flavors... yuck! lol. I know I am the odd one here :)

I grew up with a very Irish Grandmother who always had a pot of tea going. I grew up on it. I even had it in my bottle as a child... with lots of milk and some sugar (I was told anyway!).

Growing up it was always red rose tea... but now my tea horizons have expanded. I love the English breakfast and earl gray tea from Tea Forte. I buy the English breakfast in event sized boxes!!! My tea of choice in the morning is a Tazo Tea called Awake - a lot more caffeine and a stronger flavor. (Tazo has a really cool website too btw!) You can get it at Starbucks too. I think I have come up with the most confusing tea order that you can have there..... I always swore I wouldn't be one of THOSE kind of people .... but I need my venti-awake-tea-one bag in - one out - with room for milk!

Back to why I am talking about tea.... well I have a layout about our 'tea party'!
This is Mary, Chris and I at CHA in the Making Memories booth.
They made it look like the cutest little french cafe! So we had to get a quick picture!
The paper is Making Memories (of course!) as well as the journal spot, photo corners and the brown ribbon trim. The little tea pot element is from Crate Paper Restoration line along with the chipboard flower. Glimmer misted some AC thickers to be the perfect shade of pink too!

Now if we could only get some sun here... I would be able to take better pictures for you. Hopefully soon the sun will show... I am getting tired of these dreary days and its not even December yet!

Happy Thanksgiving to all you Americans! Enjoy your long weekend!

The one with all the trim!

I have always loved ribbons! Ever since I was little. I used to have a little box that I kept all my favorite ribbons and trims in. Not sure why I kept them all these years..... but now it seems they are totally in for scrapbooking! Good thing I kept them :)

This weekend I was over at Scrappy Chic and it was all about the trims for me! Chris has the new American Crafts ribbon wall set up... and its awesome!!!
Picked up this little guy from Maya Road..... its so soft.... we were all petting it at the counter! The color and size is great too.... less than an inch wide!

These next two I had to have... since I already love the baby version of this ribbon.... this big daddy verion almost 2" wide!!!! I have so many ideas for this already!

Yup I got both white and brown :)

On to Making Memories.... who has really out done themselves with the trims this time around!
These browns are from the Reverie line.... love the thin brown sparkle! And I am not a bling person at all so.... but its so delicate... love it!
This brown pleated velvet.... well I bought at least 2 yards of that... used a ton already :) Its going into my must have list. Think I need at least another yard!!!

With Christmas coming don't you think this would be great on some Christmas cards?? Yup the same little ribbon in green..... this is in their Halloween line!!!
The orange is something I bought a while ago.... its rick rack + pleats + polka dots + wide + orange..... I love it! Have no idea what to use it on yet but couldn't pass it up. Oh and it does come in pink as well!!! (check their valentines line!!!)

Ok back to work for me :)
Waiting on my kit from Catch the Moments.... can't wait to get started on that! Also will have a new layout to show you soon.... just need some time to edit the photos.
Have a great afternoon!!

The one with a SALE!

Its a Friday before Black Friday Sale!!!!

It starts tonight at Midnight... or is that tomorrow morning at Midnight?
Devon will be posting 10 different sales throughout the day. So you have to head over and check often. Best idea : Become a follower and add it to your google reader! It will alert you when she makes a new post... which means a new deal. Then you just e-mail her for each deal that you want. When its all said and done she will e-mail you a total for everything you bought that day. Sounds complicated... but its super easy :)

Head on over and check out her post... she has more details over here!
I have a feeling there will be some kits on sale...possibly! Also she is a great resource for buying part packages of items. Love those Jenni Bowlin buttons but don't want to pay $4 per pack? She sells them in smaller amounts... so you get three different colors of buttons for about the same price. I just got an assortment of brown, white and pink :)

Love ribbon but don't want to buy a whole pack... she sells it by the yard. Cheapest price on ribbon (especially the Dear Lizzy Rose ribbon!) that I have seen anywhere!

Have a great day Shopping tomorrow!

The one with some Friends

I absolutely LOVE the neighborhood that I grew up in. It was beautiful, the neighbors were fun and got along and had lots of kids. Whenever I got by the old house I remember all the good times we had playing there. You know back when kids would play outside all day going from one house to another as long as they were home before dark! It makes me sad that it won't be the same when I have kids of my own.

But we were lucky. Every Canada day weekend my dad and some of the other dad's would collect money from everyone on the block and buy a TON of fireworks. All the moms would make snacks and bring drinks. After the fireworks we would get sparklers and run around in the street!

Late in the summer when I started to get dark earlier, we would have huge games of hide and go seek in the dark. We had teams... usually girls vs boys! In the winter our backyard would flood every year.... which made the best natural ice rink. All the kids would come skating at our house. On snow days all the moms would come over and bring tons of food... all the kids would make snow forts and play in the snow.

Ahh... good times :) .... maybe I should get back on topic to my layout :)

These are some of the neighborhood kids. Me in the front and my brother Sean at the end. Mostly Doodlebug products used here with some KI letter rubons. I really love how this turned out since its very different than my usual style.... but it suits the theme of the paper and picture.

With the lack of sunlight the past couple weeks its been hard to get good pictures of my layouts. So its the best I could get!

In other scrappy news.... the kit that I posed about a couple days ago from Catch the Moments Kits is on sale this week! All the kits that are normally $18 are now $14! So head on over and check it out :)

Have a great day!

The one with some Suede

One of my favorite shows in Project Runway...... unfortunately since it switched networks those of us in Canada no longer get it on regular tv! So I have missed most of this season... only watched a few episodes online when I could find them.

At CHA this summer I got to meet Suede from season 7. (I think I posted this pic just after I got back) But here it is all scrapped up :)

Used the new Glitz products here.... the paper, transparency, tulle and journal cards.
Here is a close up of the flower and tulle arrangement in the corner. My favorite part of the page. Those are the smae kind of flowers I used on the wedding page a couple days ago.... glimmer misted them up to give the color more punch and some sparkle.
Hope you all had a great weekend! Mine was busy working on the basement as usual. The grout is done and the carpet is in... just leaves some trim and then its time to decorate... which is the fun part!!!

On Friday night some friends of our from the states came over for dinner. We went to this little place called Vito's..... SO GOOD! I can see why my brother and Jess ate there like every weekend! lol.

I promise soon some basement reno pics. My brother from T.O. has been asking :) Wish I had remembered to take some good 'before' shots... no one will believe how bad it really was ;)

The one with 2 Lizzy's!

Another CHA photo here! Posed this pic before and sent a link of the post to Lizzy herself and she commented on my blog. My journaling is kinda silly... but I was so geeked when she left a comment that I used it as my journaling :)

Lots of AC Dear Lizzy products used here mixed with some new paper from MME - fine and dandy. The banner is from MME as well... check out this set here! Love this.
And for the record.... I know I'm addicted to the banner 'trend'! I just can't help it. I really hope that its a trend that sticks around... because I think every second page I have made this year has one. lol :)

Now will someone just come out with a triangle punch already! I would buy that up in a second! Hint Hint .... Fiskers and Martha ;)

The one with a kit

The new Catch the Moments Vintage Kit that is :)
Isn't it pretty!

Its filled with AC and BG goodies! The new AC classics line mixed with BG Curio.
And look at those thickers... patterned canvas thickers... and yes you get a whole set in this kit!

Unfortunately this is not the kit I will be working with this month for the DT.... but fortunately she will be sending some other awesome goodies to work with! I can't wait to get them. I also ordered some extra Thickers and ribbon for her site. Honestly the best prices on Thickers and Dear Lizzy rose ribbon I have seen.

So head on over and check it out. Devon is super nice so just shoot her an e-mail if you have any questions. Also.... she is working on a real website for the store that will go up soon. Very excited for that as well :)

Last night I finished up the journaling on the two layouts I made at the crop this weekend. So now I can post them! Hopefully there will still be sunlight when I get home tonight to photograph them... sigh... I hate leaving and coming home from work in the dark!!

Have a great day!

The one with some Pink Paislee

I have been anxiously awaiting the Parisian Anthology release from Pink Paislee since I saw it at CHA. It is so pretty! I love how white and clean it is, but then you can add your own pop of color. I wanted this layout to be very simple and pretty. I love how it turned out.
I used the Tim Holtz distress inks around the edge of the page. This color matched perfect with the ribbon trim. I used it in a circle behind the beautiful Prima flower with feathers!! The chipboard letters are from Pink Paislee's Queen Bee line.
The paper that I used as a matting here is one of the new Hambly vellum papers. I inked the back with the Tim Holtz distress ink as well to give it more contrast against the white paper.
These little flowers might be my new favorite thing right now. They came white with a bit of wire for the stem. I used my glimmer mists to make them match my page. They turned out great, love that they have hints of white still. These little flowers can be found at Scrappy Chic in the embellishment bar! 3 sizes only $0.15 each! Plus they come in like 10 colors. I am going to stock up on the white for sure :)
Have a great day!

The one with some Golf

Hi All!!

Today was a very fun day filled with most of my favorite things - shopping, scrapping and eating at my favorite Detroit haunts! Jess, Krysti and I met up with Angela and Mary over at Scrappy Chic for the crop.... on the way we hit up Home Goods and lunch at Potbelly's (yum!). After the crop we went to Nikki's pizza for dinner (ordered extra to bring for lunch tomorrow too!).

The only thing left on my list of favorite things to do would be Golf!
So here is a layout I did of the 4 of us girls golfing up in Interlochen, Mi. Julia and Liv are just starting out... but they both did very well. Tamar was an excellent cart driver ;)
Some Bo-Bunny Olivia here mixed with embellishments from BG Green at Heart!
Love how this ribbon idea turned out. AC ribbon stitched in place. Can you tell I am addicted to sewing on my layouts :) It just doesn't feel done to me without it!

Can't believe that the weekend is over already! Back to work tomorrow. This week I have a feeling will be super busy but I hope to post some of the layouts I made today at the crop. I got 2 whole layouts done... and I'm happy with that :)

Have a great night,

The one with some Exciting News!

Yes I have some exciting news to share! On Friday I was asked to be on the Catch The Moments Kits Design Team! Devon's kits look really great and so well priced too :) I can't wait to see what will come in our first kit!! yay!! Head on over and check out the blog. She also sells new products as well as kits.... she has some new BG Curio in... and some new Thickers! (check out her price on Thickers -- 15% less than MSRP! -- and buy 10 get 1 free)

Now on to a LO... what... I know its crazy I haven't posted one in so long! lol

Almost a month ago now (I can't believe that!) we went to our friends cottage in Interlochen, Mi. It was so pretty. The setting, the town, the cottage, the whole place was decorated just beautifully! This line from Lily Bee was just perfect for the feeling of the cottage.
Close up of the layered flower.... Prima crochet flower with a cute mini BG bloomer!
This will be up at Scrappy Chic soon! I will be there scrapping Sunday actually :) Meeting up with fellow DT member Angela and Mary (who came to CHA with me!). I think we will have a good time. Its a free crop so come on by if you are in the area!

Hope you are having a great weekend!

The one with some explaining to do

Where the heck have I been??? Well its been crazy around here! Good crazy though.

I have been working full time (which is great!!!) and renovating our house. The basement to be exact. As well as fixing up the other stuff that we tend to live with and not notice until we really look at it.

We fell in love with a new house, in the town that we love. Now this would be a good thing... but you can't fall in love with another house when you still have your house, especially when your house is not near ready to sell. So we have been working all day and then coming home and working all nights and weekends on the house.

Not leaving too much time for crafty stuff. But I did sit down and get my DT layouts done for Scrappy Chic. Once I get them photographed I will share them here. In the meantime, I will share the pics that Angela took of my new kit! She is the best :) She took pics to send to me so I would know what I had to work with when we meet up for a crop on Sunday. Scrappy Chic has free crops on Sunday from 12-6.... so come on by and join us if you are in the area!

Here is what my new kit has.... can't tell what paper line that is on the right hand side... thinking doodlebug?? Lots of good embellishments this time around as well :)

Thanks for the sneak peek Angela :)
