The one with Scraps

So I have been working on getting a couple more samples done for the store. This page is with the Basic Grey Origins... I LOVE this collection! I still have some tweaking to do... but its almost there!
Like I'm sure all of you, after I am done a layout or two... or three... I have lots of scraps laying around on my desk. My favorite thing to do with those is make a few cards. Especially with little pieces of paper. I am temped to toss them since I know putting them into my scrap pile means they will never get used again so I have to use them right away.
These next two cards were made using what was left over. Little bits of stuff that didn't seem that great on their own... but all together make a cute card!

Even the ribbon on this card was a little scrap left over from my layout!

For this second card, I was going to make the bottom all green... but then I just cut the solid into strips, used a punch and layered them all together. A few pop dots added to the back of the umbrella and a AC rubon and ribbon scrap... all done!
All three of these are going to be sent over to Scrappy Chic sometime in the next week. Just another excuse for me to go over and shop :) yay!

The one with lots of stuff

Well my first two DT layouts have been turned in. I love the challenge of working with different lines that I may not have picked out myself. This first layout I LOVE. I think it turned out really cute in real life... the scan is not too hot! lol. I was really stumped for what kind of photo I would use with the paper and embellishments... but I think it is so girlie and perfect for this page about my friends wedding!
Making Memories Flutter line with some new AC Dear Lizzy mixed in!

This second layout turned out better than I though... and really had so much fun working on it. I don't use rubons that often but I am inspired to pull them out more now! Also a solid color backdrop is unusual for me.... but still loving how it turned out.
Imaginisce Scooter's vacation paper, flowers and rubons. AC thickers and Prima bling!
Being unemployed is hard work! lol. I feel like I have been more busy than when I was working...lol. So this week has been all about the Wedding Shower Invites! Check out this really cool one:

The bride is so fun to work with and she knows what she likes... which is great! So she found this printable invite and I helped her Photoshop her wording on it to make it all her own. Very unique. Wish I was going to this party... sounds like sooooo much fun! :)
This second invite came together so well. This is another printable invite that the bride found online and we added the wording and brown border to make it more custom. Love how it turned out!
On the back we did a map and directions since there were many out of town guests invited. Such a nice touch and makes it easy to find a tucked away venue.
****** As a liability/copyright note I want to clarify that the designs were not mine but from invites that you buy and print yourself. I just gave them a little help to look more custom! ******
Tomorrow I meet with my brother's Fiance to order paper for her shower invites! very excited for these. Off now to make a few samples for her :)
Have a great afternoon!

The one with a little peek

Went over to Scrappy Chic today and dropped off my first two layouts for the Design Team. I am really excited to show them to you :) So here are a few little peeks!!

Still want to make a few more things. I have some cute cards planned and one more layout. Also did a little shopping today. You NEED to check out the new Kaiser Krafts line Devonshire. Love the color combo of burnt orange with green and blue. Kinda vintage looking too.
My big purchase of the day was three bottles of glimmer mist! So excited to try them out. I got the new Jillibean Soup white corrugated letter... thought the glimmer mist might look good on them!
I will share the full projects later this week ;)

The one with some new Product

Do you remember this post ? Well today I walked into Scrappy Chic and it was right there in front of me! I didn't plan on getting anything today except what I needed for the shower invites I am working on.....but I couldn't wait for this stuff!

I think this is my favorite ribbon ever! Its so light and girlie but also a big wow factor on a page. This whole line is very cute.... but I held back a little. I need to learn a little restraint now that I am not working!
Today I went for lunch with some co-workers (or ex-coworkers i guess)... still they are my friends. It was so nice to catch up with Callista. Afterward I went to the office to drop off my paperwork and chit chat with some people.
Now.... I have to vent a little.... I am happy that I will qualify for unemployment....but let me just say that the lady that was working at 'Michigan Works' was NOT very nice. I know I don't have a job but that doesn't mean I am stupid! She was treating everyone there like crap! Rolling her eyes when I would ask her a question! I have never had to apply for unemployment before... how am I suppose to know? She just had an attitude that everyone who walked in to ask questions was wasting her time.
Anyway... so their system was down... which means I have to go back tomorrow morning. I also have to be at the unemployment help center at 7am! Its so much more complicated to apply since I don't live in Michigan. So I am off to bed to get up very early!!!
Tomorrow Alain is leaving for the weekend... so lots of scrapping and invitation making planned! Hopefully lots of good stuff to share!

The one with Snow and Palm Trees

So I am back. My trip was great..... other than the snow! Can you believe that this is what we saw on Saturday morning!!!
So we got to golf on Friday but obviously there was no chance of it on Saturday with 4 inches of snow! I thought I was going south to get away from the snow :) lol. We did my second favorite thing to pass the time... Shopping! They have a great Tanger outlet mall not too far from Andrew's condo. My best buy was a Coach ring with the Legacy stripe for $20! I have the bracelet and the clutch... so I need the ring right?
Also I hit up this place called Tuesday Morning... I have heard a lot of ladies over at 2peas talking about it. Well I got 8 packs of thickers for $0.69 each! Plus 4 packs of AC flair for $0.69 too. I wish we had one a lot closer to here!
Thankfully all the snow melted over Saturday night and Sunday was bright and sunny. One of the warmest days Andrew has had since he has been down there. We played Glen Dornoch.... it was a really nice course... and it didn't hurt that I played awesome! 76!!!!
Check out this hole (#16 I think)
Thought I would end with something scrappy! This is one of the layouts that I submitted for my DT entry. I think I posted the pictures before but here they are all scrapped up :)

This page uses all products from once manufacturer... which is Making Memories. I used mostly the passport line but there are some odds and ends in there from noteworthy and vintage findings as well.
I am excited for my consult tonight :) I made a bunch of shower invite samples yesterday. I love working with Brides to make something that is exactly what they want. I will post some of the samples and what we chose later this week. Its kind of a rush job. She needs all the invites done by next week! Guess it works out since I have some time on my hands now ;)
I will be stopping by Scrappy Chic on Thursday to pick up some paper I ordered... and maybe shop a bit. Looks like they have got some great stuff in since I was last there! I need it all :)

PS - Thanks for all the nice comments in the last post. I really appreciate all your support :) {{{hugs}}}}

The one with bad news!

So how far can one person's emotions be stretched in the course of one week? Last week this time I was anxiously awaiting the news from Scrappy Chic about the design team. So excited to be part of the team and meet all the girls. I even got one layout done already. I also made some appointments to meet with two Brides to do their wedding and shower invites. I was on top of the world! Then today... I got the horrible news that I was laid off.......

Not what you want to hear just hours before you are leaving on vacation! But I knew that it was a possibility. I have been lucky to survive the first round of layoffs. I loved my job. I loved what I got to do every day, the diversity of the projects, the creativity and learning experiences. Most of all its hard to say goodbye to the people.... my Friends.

So I am running away.... and not thinking about it again... at least until Monday!
I will deal with the paperwork, resume writing, starting over, job hunting when I get back. I will focus on the positives that I have in my life and it won't be as bad as it feels today.

At least that's my plan.......

The one with a Sneek Peek!

So last night was my first Design Team meeting. It was so great to meet the other girls and see their work! For this month, there are three lines that I am going to be working with.

The first is Scooter's Vacation from Imaginisce:

This line has great vibrant colors and graphic prints. I have lots of photos that I can think of for this line! Should be really fun to work with.

The second is BG origins. Ahhh... love this line. I already own a lot from this line already so now I just need to find *just* the right photos for it. Thinking black and white photos might be great!

The third line is from Making Memories - Flutter. So summery and cute! Wishing I had a little girl in a cute summer dress for this page :) but some shower pics from my friends wedding might fit as well. Loving the mixed ditcut embellishments that are in this set! 94 pieces total with paper, felt and canvas textures!
Now I need to get to work!
I am off to Myrtle Beach this coming weekend. My brother is down there doing the golf circuit so I will be visiting him for the weekend and hopefully playing some golf. The weather forecast looks like it might be pretty chilly there! We just need 4 hours of warm each day to get one round in so keeping my fingers crossed :)

The one with some AC and BG

My first design team meeting is tomorrow! I can't believe it still. I thought I should create a cute journal to keep all my notes and inspiration. I just used a regular notebook and added some BG Indian Summer. I think it will be a nice way to keep everything organized!

I also made these quick pages with the We R Memory Keepers- quick page, page protectors. I wasn't sure how I would like it but they actually really fun to work with. I got 20 pictures scrapped in a very short time. The paper and Thickers are AC Letterbox collection. Loving this line from them! The colors worked perfect with the colors of the hotel and the feeling of the island photos.

I have a lot of pictures from this trip, but not a lot that need their own page so I have a feeling I will be using these a lot for my Cruise pictures.
Off to Scrappy Chic tomorrow ....will share all the fun DT news when I get back!
Hope you have a great Superbowl weekend! Who is scrappin' and who is watchin'?

The one with my lucky day!

Ok so I am officially buying a lottery ticket today ;)

I am over the moon, feel like I've had a few drinks, can't focus on my work EXCITED for two reasons today. The first is that I made the Scrappy Chic design team! Ahhhhh. I just got a call from Chris (the owner)while I was at work... and lets just say my co-workers think I'm crazy! I really wanted this so badly and now I can't wait to create. Can I start right now? lol

Next I went to e-mail to my bffs my good news and there was an e-mail from Bobbi at Clip-It-Up! They are using my ribbon storage idea as their inspiration prize for February! So you need to head over to Simply Renee Blog for your chance to win some Clip-It-Up goodies. Good luck!

The one with some yardsale finds!

Sunday was the semi annual scrapbook yard sale at my favorite LSS... Scrappy Chic! The deals to be had were amazing. Just look at all the stuff I got.....and for less that $40 I am a happy girl!
One of the sellers (#3) had the best stuff. Brand new packs of Thickers for $1.50! and Loopy Love letters.... I heart them as well! BG rubons brand new in package... AC mini marks for $1!
GinX rubons, Kaiser bling, Heidi Swapp goodness here....

And these babies.... brand new never opened packages! They were on my shopping list but I never thought I would get them at the yard sale :)
The best deal of the day by far was the cropper hoppers! Can you believe that I got 5 of them for $18! What a deal. The poor girl that brought them in was walking through the crowd looking of a place to drop them... I came right up to her "are you selling or buying those"... she said selling and I said... "I will take them ALL". I think she thought I was crazy!
In non-yardsale shopping I picked up a few new things as well. Some BG origins paper and some more Bloom and Grow (it was on sale!). These also caught my eye from Imaginisce. The colors are so great in real life.... my picture is not :)
I am in love with these new flowers from BG. But yes I do love everything from BG!

The detail on them is just crazy. I can see myself using these on may layouts!

Last night I stayed up til midnight re-organizing all my paper. It was so much fun! (I know I'm a dork!) It just feels good to have it all in order and easy to find with room to add more paper too :)
Now I just need some time to actually scrapbook!
